Description

Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz

The Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz is a very popular silver bullion coin which competes with the US Silver Eagle 1 oz and the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf 1 oz. Introduced by the Austrian Mint in 2008 this pure silver coin features a similar design to the Austrian Gold Philharmonic.

The front features the Great Pipe Organ found in Vienna’s Golden Hall, the denomination of 1.5 euro and the date of manufacture. The back of the coin features an arrangement of musical instruments, the legend “Wiener Philharmoniker” (Vienna Philharmonic) and the word “Silber” (Silver).

These silver coins are among the first denominated in euros and are pure silver (.999 fine). Production numbers are driven by demand and yearly mintage falls between 10 and 20 million coins because of its popularity.

The Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz coin is striking in its design but in keeping with traditional European conservative values, it features a beautifully executed plain edge.

The regular production Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz offers a number of advantages: (1) because the coin is minted and guaranteed as to weight and purity by the Austrian Mint it is accepted as a world standard. This allows dealers to post daily buy and sell prices on these beautiful 1 oz coins which directly follow the price of silver. (2) Because of the Austrian Mint’s quality standards the Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz is accepted in your Individual Retirement Account. (3) Because the Austrian Mint produces a significant number of these brilliant uncirculated silver coins the premium over spot is low and attractive to those who only want a bullion investment. (4) The Philharmonic  is a pure silver coin with no alloy and so allows investors to calculate value easily. (5) The Austrian Mint designed a hard plastic tube which holds 20 coins and snaps tightly shut so storage is easy. Austrian Silver Philharmonic 1 oz coins  ship in a hard cardboard grey box which is strapped, weighs 37 pounds and holds 25 tubes (500 coins). These tough boxes stack nicely, travel coast to coast with no trouble and are popular with silver investors.

A unique feature to the Austrian Silver Philharmonic Monster Box is that it is the only Monster Box which comes with a small tool which allows for easy opening of the hard plastic tubes.

Finally there is no reporting requirement (Federal Form 1099B) for this bullion coin when you purchase or sell keeping paperwork to a minimum.

The Austrian Silver Philharmonic is a beautiful bullion coin that is especially appreciated by music lovers. The design is great and they are less expensive than Silver Eagles which are also one ounce coins. They make great gifts for anyone who has ever played a musical instrument.

I have purchased Austrian Philharmonic Silver Coins from California Numismatics over the past several years. I think they are the most beautiful bullion silver coins on the market and I have never found another coin dealer that provides better prices or a more professional attitude on the phone. No “hard sell” from these folks. Just expert, courteous and knowledgeable service.

I have bought these in the past, and I am now preparing to order more. I like the fact that they are as easily assayable as others and likewise considered legal tender, at a lower premium. I am a fan of all 3 of these one ounce rounds (Eagles, Maple leaf and Austrian) and when s*** hits the fan they will be very tradable in these small denominations based on Spot.
